Dutch collective .multibeat release two singles from their forthcoming album 'OOO' last this year, but these tracks are even more 'forward thinking' than that!
Hailing from the vibrant city of Utrecht, the trio draw on a rich musical heritage and diverse influences to create their unique amalgamation of hip hop and jazz, keeping the beat firmly at the centre of everything they do.
Influenced by artists such as Robert Glasper and J Dilla, as well as the current wave of UK jazz, the core trio of Boudewijn Pleij (keys), Thijs van Zutphen (bass) and Aron Smit (drums) continue to draw inspiration from working with a wide range of like-minded artists across their sonic spectrum. Collaboration has always been central to .multibeat’s identity, and both singles highlight different facets of that approach.
Please Hold Me features Dutch singer, songwriter and producer Säm Wilder, whose polished, R&B-tinged vocal brings a sense of intimacy and emotional openness to the track. With its melting chords, pitched-up vocal samples and neck-snapping drums, the song captures the feeling of slowly letting your guard down with someone.
