You can't say we didn't tell you that 'superhero' Tryangle Man has booked out of 'Hotel Defou' and he's got his album with him, all 11 tracks and it's out now

It's been a couple of years since Tryangle Man's 'Discovery Of Pangea' (see review HERE) and the 'Voyages' trip on Atjazz Records (see review HERE) but our favourite 'superhero' [Ed. that's Tryangle Man] kept it together and after his 'Tooka Martini' single (see review HERE), the 'Hotel Defou' is now open/out!

This is actually his 5th album and it's got all his jazzy, Chicago, Deep House, classical. Latin, soul-jazz, funk, Nu-Disco element/influences all together on the 11 tracks; the title track capturing the 'Tryangle Man' superpower.

Online portal Beatport first picked up on 'Lemon Squeeze' with it's Deodato street-funk keys with humerous horns, it set the tone for the Reception desk entrance at the Hotel.

So you now get the idea with 'Elevator Music' taking you to the 'Royal Suite' (for Kings and Queens) where you can order 'Room Service', put your 'Please Do Not Disturb' on the door, drink you 'Tooka Martini' and generally have a great time.

You're, more than likely, find me at the 'Swinging Pool' in me trunks or writing a 'Postcard To Edith' (Ed. as fans of the 'Handwriting Letter Soceity' and the 'PostboxSaturday' groups).

With the strong emphasis on the jazz-funk/house keyboard lead, it won't be a surprise to hear that 'root' of the album began over a full year of touring and improvising on stage with live-loops and the crowd reaction. As they say, "[if] you caught Tryangle Man live you already danced to these songs. Now you have the versions he always intended you to hear".

Not that any of the tracks are short, I do like the longer tracks like the title track, 'When We Met' and 'House Of Desired Funk' that reminds me of pianist Bugge Wessltoft a la 'New Conceptions of Jazz' period but we move on to Tryangle Man's conceptions and it's enought to make anyone smile and dance whether you're at the Hotel or not, "Non-Residents welcome" you might say!

Tryangle Man returns and he's gone straight to the cocktail bar for the new single, 'Tooka Martini' - we'll drink to that!

It's been a couple of years since Tryangle Man's 'Discovery Of Pangea' (see review HERE) and the 'Voyages' trip on Atjazz Records (see review HERE) but our favourit 'superhero' [Ed. that's Tryangle Man] has gone his jazz lounge spats on and got his order in at the Cotton Club bar as a 2026 refurbishment.

It's enought to make anyone smile and dance as it's got similarities with Mr. Scruff re-work of Moondog's song 'Lament I, 'Bird's Lament'; re-branded it as 'Get A Move On' [1999] and Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra's 'Minnie The Moocher' (without the reggae and more jazz house.

More subtle than Zbeeez and the recent 'Oh Yes!' (see review HERE) but that what happens when you 'Tooka Martini'.

Who the blimey is Tryangle Man?

Still a man of mystery even after the release of his album 'Dream Sequence 1544' on Atjazz Record Company from 2001 that featured the quirky upbeat 'Night Jazz' hit.

Still a bit offbeat on his return with the single 'Theatre Of The Sand مسرح الرمل' that takes us to a cross between Max Cooper, Batov and Cee ElAssaad.

But that doesn't tell the whole story of the 'Discovery Of Pangea' as this 11 Day (sorry, track) journey and it's like a super-collection of parts that possibly will all drift apart?

'Midnight Jazz' is like a Duke Ellington trio's take on dance/house whilst 'Deep Mind' synths into a bit of Daft Punk and bits of lots of tracks are classical (in a good way), like many stand-out tracks, 'Everything' and 'Power'.  In contrast, there's the Kraftwerk-esque 8-Bit-Go-Go of 'Whispers Of A Dialogue' (that's 'Day 6' of the discovery expedition!) and the faster 'Desert Hills' that'll keep you hot-steppin' into the night.

So little surprise that his fans include the craftsmith likes of Laurent Garnier, DJ Koze and Josh Wink.  And there was I thinking that 'Discovery Of Pangea' was going to be this years' jazzt South Beach Recycling's ' Obsessive Compulsive Disco' (see review HERE) but it's deeper (no pun etc..) than that, get ready for the nu-Pythagoreanism spaceship dancefloor from Beirut!

The album launch on 18th May is at Notting Hill Arts Club where he'll be joined by Ben Hadwen on sax/flutes (Emanative's old mate) ad Miguele on vocals; and supported by Paoli & Simba and Paraiba for a full night of jazzy afro-house pleasure - check out the full details on Resident Advisor HERE.
