After two Yuu Udagawa releases in one month and and a 'Beat Sculpture' with a Coflo remix back in May, no surprise Yuu Udagawa needed to take a breath before coming back with a 'Urban Physicality' that's full of Gold's Gym heavy Razor N Tape dancefloor muscle!

Following on from the 'Golden Glow' EP (see review HERE) and the impressive 'Beats Sculpture' EP with the Coflo remix (see review HERE) but this is the best yet!

A five track EP of 12" mixes of 'In Your Eyes', 'Recollection' and the title track plus not one, but two remixes of 'Urban Physicality' by Takuya Matsumoto; a 'special' remix and a piano mix.

What has been described as "moody deep house" sounds fun and jazzy to me - Carl Craig in San Francisco minimalism as in her 12" mix of Urban Physicality', brooding, yes, but "more alive" than she's ever been (perhaps).

Which is then funny as Tokyo's Matsumoto gets as tough as Brooklyn, Bronx & Queens 80s style until he flips the vibe with the piano mix.

But I keep returning to 'In Your Eyes' with its loopy keys and cymbols of flutterng rain that make it have a beauty all of it's own.

Not one but two Yuu Udagawa releases in one month and 'Beat Sculpture comes with a Coflo remix!

Following on from the 'Golden Glow' EP (see review HERE), I know you'll be impressed with the lead track 'Beats Sculpture' but wait 'till you here the Coflo remix - you'll recall his Kerrier Collective 'Life Wants To Live' remix, see review HERE - but what's going on in San Francisco?  The original isn't exactly industrial but it seems to have hit some Carl Craig Detroit machine workx!

Both tracks are great and expect all the big head DJs to have it in their set lists for the summer.

Compost Records will be basking in the 'Golden Glow' of Yuu Udagawa as it becomes a summer must have: expect big support from Gilles Peterson and all the usual suspects.

You'll recall Yuu Udagawa's 'Ride It' / 'The Peaceful Dawn' from last year with the a trio of remixes by three of our favourites on the "knob twiddles": JKriv, Fred Everything and Manuel Tur (see review HERE).  Well, 'Golden Glow' is a 4-tracker that's even better as Yuu's jazzy keys have some additional Henri Mancini 60s OST cool with "electric samba-infused broken beat".

It's housey warped jazz CO-OP (see 'Our Music Our Culture Vol. 2' review HERE), especially the killer instrumental track 'Reverie' and 'Velvet City' that hints at 'golden (Ed. no pun etc) era' hip-hop jazzy house.

The other two tracks are just as mesmeric, the title track and the jazzy electro boogie mash of  'One More': love the jazz club vibes here.

Yuu Udagawa is the highlight of the summer so far! Again!
